SYMPTOM: Gray, cracked, and splintered wood has ruined my deck. Will I have to rebuild it?
DIAGNOSIS:
UV rays from the sun turn the top cells of the decks wood gray just like tree bark. Freezing and thawing in the winter cause
the wood to splinter and crack
TREATMENT:Pressuer washing removes the gray cells to expose new wood. It also helps
break off cracked and splintered wood. In certain severe cases some boards may need replacing. Water sealing coats the wood
by filling the exposed cells with wax to repell water. The water does not penetrate deep into the wood so it can't freeze
and thaw. Very simple but effective!!
SYMPTOM; I tried to power wash my own deck and it doesn't seem to get clean.
TREATMENT; Layers of stain and water
seal can't be effectively cleaned by power washing alone. My secret formula lifts old stain and allows power washing to remove
it. It is an environmently safe process that restores the natural wood.
SYMPTOM; My deck turned gray just one year after I power washed it.
DIAGNOSIS & TREATMENT; Uv rays from the sun turn the top cells of the wood gray just like tree bark. Pressure washing
removes the top layers of gray wood cells but they start to gray the minute you finish. Clear water seal protects against
freezing and thawing in the winter that can crack and splinter the wood. Clear water seal, however, does not protect against
UV rays. I recommend a semi-transparent stain that is tinted a natural wood tone to help block the UV rays that also includes
a water seal.
SYMPTOM: I used a name brand water seal that I saw on the TV commercials but it didn't last very long.
DIAGNOSIS & TREATMENT: Many water seals available at local stores are less than 1% active ingredient. You are paying
for 99% mineral spirits or other agent to disperse the wax. The products I use have as much as 10 times the water seal in
them and will protect much longer. Mineral spirits can be harmful to your plants. The water based products I use are safer
for your lawn and plants as well as safer for your family.
